Is WhoIsConnected free?
Yes. The Free Edition provides network visibility and allows users to view active applications and network connections.
Premium features provide extended analysis and additional control capabilities.
Is WhoIsConnected a firewall?
No. WhoIsConnected is not intended to replace Windows Firewall.
It provides visibility, analysis and user-controlled actions to help understand network activity.
Why does WhoIsConnected need administrator rights?
Some network monitoring and control functions require elevated Windows permissions.
Administrator access allows WhoIsConnected to obtain detailed connection information and perform requested actions.
Does WhoIsConnected require an internet connection?
The application itself works locally.
Optional features such as external network information retrieval or AI-assisted analysis may require internet access.
Privacy and Data
Does WhoIsConnected upload my network data?
No.
Network monitoring is performed locally on your Windows computer. Connection information is not uploaded to a cloud service.
Does WhoIsConnected store my connection history?
No.
The current version focuses on real-time connection visibility and does not maintain a historical connection log.
Some information may be stored locally to improve operation, such as previously retrieved network details or completed AI analysis results.
Where are blocked connections stored?
Blocked communication is managed by Windows Firewall.
WhoIsConnected reads the current Windows Firewall configuration when the blocked network list is requested.
Network Monitoring
Does WhoIsConnected show every network communication?
WhoIsConnected displays active network connections that exist while the application is running.
Some network communication is very short-lived. An application may connect to a server, retrieve information, and disconnect immediately.
These short contacts may no longer exist as active connections and therefore may not appear in the current connection view.
Future versions may introduce additional logging capabilities to record short network contacts and provide a broader history of network activity.
Why do some applications connect only briefly?
Many applications perform short network requests for tasks such as:
- Checking for updates.
- Retrieving information.
- Synchronizing data.
- License verification.
- Downloading content.
These connections may complete before they can be displayed as an active connection.
AI Analysis
What is AI Analysis?
AI Analysis helps explain technical network information in a more understandable way.
It evaluates the selected application together with the selected network connection.
Why can the same network have different AI results?
The network alone is not the complete context.
The same network may be normal for one application and unusual for another application.
Does AI decide whether an application is unsafe?
No.
AI provides analysis and suggestions. The user remains responsible for deciding whether action is required.
Can AI analyse every network communication?
AI analysis is performed on the selected application and the currently available connection information.
Very short network contacts that have already ended cannot be analysed unless they are recorded by a future logging feature.
Network Control
Can WhoIsConnected block applications?
Premium features allow users to control selected network activity.
Actions apply to selected application and network combinations.
Can blocking actions be reversed?
Yes.

Why does an application reconnect after stopping it?
Stopping a connection affects the current communication.
If the application still requires network access, it may create a new connection later.
